What certified compostable means
FilmOrganic mulch films are certified by independent third-party organizations, including TÜV Austria.
These certifications verify that the material biodegrades through microbial activity,
converting the material’s carbon into CO₂ while forming water and microbial biomass
without leaving persistent plastic fragments or microplastics in the soil.
Compostability certifications verify the biological conversion of the material’s carbon into CO₂, demonstrating true biodegradation rather than plastic fragmentation.

FilmOrganic mulch films have been evaluated through controlled composting trials to verify that the resulting compost is safe for plant growth.
During these trials, the mulch film is composted together with organic organic waste under controlled conditions. The compost obtained from this process is then used in plant growth tests to verify that it does not negatively affect seed germination or plant development.
Independent testing confirmed that compost produced from FilmOrganic mulch shows no phytotoxicity and supports normal plant growth.
Plant growth tests were conducted according to internationally recognized protocols including:
ISO 16929 — Pilot-scale composting test used to evaluate the disintegration of plastic materials under controlled composting conditions
OECD 208 — Terrestrial Plant Test used to verify seedling emergence and plant growth in compost-amended soil
The results confirmed that compost produced from FilmOrganic mulch does not inhibit plant germination or plant development, demonstrating that the material does not introduce harmful residues into the compost environment.

Material integrity
All FilmOrganic mulch films are manufactured exclusively from biodegradable and compostable bioplastics.
They contain:
• No polyethylene
• No oxo-degradable additives
• No fossil-based plastic materials designed to fragment into microplastics
• No intentionally added PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances)
Instead, the material is designed to biodegrade in soil through microbial activity, converting into water, CO₂ and biomass without leaving persistent plastic residues behind.
This biodegradation occurs through soil microorganisms, not plastic fragmentation.
