Compostable Mulch Film for Strawberries
For commercial strawberry systems.
Yes — compostable works for strawberries.
Compostable mulch for matted row, day-neutral, and winter-over systems.
Strawberries are demanding.
Freeze. Thaw. UV. Wind. Snow load.
FilmOrganic mulch holds through the season —
including winter where required.
No polyethylene to remove in spring.
No oxo film breaking into fragments.
No microplastic accumulation in the bed.
Stable during the crop.
Integrated into the soil when the cycle is complete.

Strawberry Production Has Changed
Strawberry growers don’t choose mulch by habit anymore.
They choose by results.
Polyethylene mulch does not break down.
It breaks up.
It leaves plastic fragments in the bed — season after season.
Microplastics do not disappear.
They accumulate in the soil.
Strawberries are high-value crops.
Clean beds matter.
FilmOrganic compostable mulch performs through the season
and then breaks down in the soil.
No plastic removal at renewal.
No plastic fragments left behind.
No microplastic buildup year after year.
Now choose the system that matches your production model.
SYSTEM 1 — MATTED ROW
Recommended product: FilmOrganic Black #36
• Installed before planting for weed-free establishment
• Eliminates the hand-weeding cycle
• Mulch is cut and incorporated after stolon selection
Result: massive labor savings. The value is not weed control: It is weed elimination before weeds ever exist.
SYSTEM 2 — DAY-NEUTRAL STRAWBERRIES (ANNUAL)
Recommended product: FilmOrganic Black #66 or CoolWhite #66
• Remains intact for a full 6-month season
• Withstands harvest traffic and repeated field operations
• Eliminates end-of-season plastic removal
Result: full-season durability where other compostables fail.
SYSTEM 3 — SHORT-DAY / WINTER-OVER STRAWBERRIES
Recommended product: FilmOrganic Black #88 or CoolWhite #88
• Up to 15 months field durability
• Designed to be used in harmony with winter frost protection fabric
• No spring plastic removal — ever
Result: winter-over performance without polyethylene.

Technical note — #88 Winter-over strawberries
For winter-over strawberry systems, Series #88 is designed to work in combination with a white frost protection fabric.
This fabric is installed to protect strawberry plants from winter conditions and also shields the mulch film from excessive UV and freeze-thaw stress, allowing Series #88 to reach its full durability potential of up to 15 months.
This is standard practice in professional strawberry production and ensures:
plant protection during dormancy
stable mulch performance through winter
no plastic removal in spring
Installation & Field Use
FilmOrganic installs with the same equipment used for standard plastic mulch.
No special machinery required.
Proper Setup Matters
• Install with normal mulch-laying equipment
• Avoid overstretching the film
• Aim for a snug, well-sealed bed installation
• Maintain consistent soil coverage along edges
Correct tension improves in-season stability and crop performance.
End of Life
At the end of the crop cycle, the film can be disked directly into the soil.
No lifting. No rolling. No hauling.

Proven in Field Conditions
Now Validate It in Yours.
Strawberry systems are precise.
Dormancy timing.
Frost cycles.
Renewal windows.
The right way to evaluate compostable mulch
is not by switching everything overnight.
It’s by running one controlled block.
2–3 rolls.
One variety.
One season.
Side-by-side with polyethylene.
Measure:
– Field stability
– Weed control
– Spring condition
– Labor impact
Then scale.
This is not a leap.
It’s a controlled agronomic decision.
